BAAG is implementing a project for capacity building of Agricultural Extension Officers

Bangladesh Academy of Agriculture (BAAG) is awarded a grant from the Krishi Gobeshona Foundation (KGF) for implementation of a project entitled, 'Capacity building of field level extension officers of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Department of Fisheries (DoF) and Department of Livestock Services (DLS) including progressive farmers of selected areas of Bangladesh'. The agreement for implementation of the project was signed on October 06, 2021. The agreement was signed by Dr. Kazi M. Badruddoza, Scientist Emeritus and President BAAG and Dr. Jiban Krishna Biswas, Executive Director, KGF. The duration of the project is three years effective from November 2021. The main objectives of the project are:
  1. To enhance the capacity of public sector agricultural extension agencies by organizing an effective Training Programs for Trainer’s (TOT). The training programme includes agriculture office, sub-assistant agriculture officer (SAAO) and progressive farmers (max. 10%) for crop sector; and same categories for livestock and fisheries as well.
  2. To expose the targeted trainees of this programme with the new and validated technologies for their field level extension for the targeted regions who would act as the trainer subsequently.
  3. To train-up 1550 number of target officials in this project in different sectors (DAE, DLS & DOF) in the project tenure. To train some 200 progressive farmers who would assist in the technology transfer process in their locality/region.
  4. To fasten the transfer of agro technologies from research to extension through this training programme as the most useful technologies are included in the process of TOT.

  5. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, former Executive Chairman, BARC will lead the project as Project Manager.
